Both sound and power are transmitted through the single USB connection. Or, if you prefer audio via the Aux port, connect the 3.5 mm stereo plug on the other built-in 1 m (3 ft.) cable (e.g., to an iPad or MP3 player). If you want wireless control from a distance, like with playing music from your smartphone, pair it via Bluetooth. The mode control button lets you switch easily. Just keep in mind that a USB-A connection for power is always required, but it certainly doesn't have to be your PC's USB port - any USB charger with 5.0 V / 2.0 A works just as well.
